Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
The Medical Assistant position is responsible for performing duties required to assist health care professionals at Cougar Health Services. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: assist in the examination and treatment of ambulatory patients; preparation of patient and environment for treatment; may conduct basic laboratory tests; perform electrocardiogram; care of the patient after treatment; patient education, clerical reception functions; and other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA);OR high school graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience providing direct patient care in a health care setting; OR equivalent education/experience.
Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential at the time of hire.
Maintain biannual Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working as a Medical Assistant.
Experience in documenting and maintaining electronic medical records.
Experience in educating and administering vaccinations and medications.
Experience in preforming laboratory tests, procedures or treatments, such as nebulizer, blood sugar by finger sticks, electrocardiograms, spirometry and peak flows.
Experience setting up for special procedures.
Experience in assisting with minor surgical procedures.
Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
