Summary of Duties:
The Washington State University Passport Program is a project of the Office of Academic Engagement, funded by the Washington Student Achievement Council. The Passport Program supports engagement, persistence, and graduation of eligible students and fosters an institutional climate supporting the success of students who have experienced foster care and homelessness. The program provides academic support, emergency grant aid, financial education, and mentorship for program participants.
This position is responsible for the supporting day-to-day logistics and services of a major program and student success initiative focused on supporting retention and success of the increasingly diverse population of students pursuing an undergraduate degree who have experienced foster care or homelessness. Working alongside project leadership to provide support, major responsibilities include: advising and counseling of students; developing and executing student programming; supporting project leadership in liaise with internal and external constituents; monitoring student services; and supervising a team of undergraduate student workers. The Student Success Specialist is charged with carrying out the mission and strategic plan of the organization through effective and efficient coordination of operations and the development of opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of professional work experience in student services. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge of and experience working successfully with students and stakeholders
Knowledge of and experience with programming, student services, and assessment.
Broad knowledge of and work experience with student transition issues and retention related to the target population.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in related field
Experience with programs serving the target populations.
Conflict and crisis management experience.
Knowledge of and ability to work effectively and positively in a highly collaborative environment.
Well-development written, verbal, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Extensive problem-solving and decision-making skills.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range. Due to the nature of funding, this is a temporary appointment with an expected end date of August 31, 2024. Extension of the position is dependent on continuation or expansion of external funding. The Passport Program at WSU has been reliably and continuously funded at WSU since 2008.
