This position provides assessment, academic, financial, transfer, career and general advising to prospective, new, and current North Hennepin Community College students to assist with academic success, persistence, graduation and transfer.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of college student development and various learning styles
Strong ability to learn, understand and explain the academic standards of NHCC and variety of degree requirements
Experience working with a diverse population of students
Personal computing/technology skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; experience with and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology to provide advising services
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
Two years of experience working in higher education
Experience creating and developing career and degree plans
Previous experience in career, academic, or financial aid advising
Familiarity with D2L, ISRS, Hobson's
