For a position to begin in August 2023, Oak Knoll is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Academic/Student Services Coordinator. This role works as part of the student support team.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve on the Student Support Team
Point person for students with documented learning differences and their families (or as referred by Division Head)
Develop and write student accommodation/learning plans for teachers and parents on students who have been tested by a specialist. Read and interpret psycho-educational tests and reports.
Coordinate and facilitate communication between student, family, school, and other involved professionals regarding student learning plan
Coordinate services for students with academic accommodations, including proctoring of students with additional time for standardized tests
Support teachers develop their understanding of how to implement the actions outlined on the learning plan along with the Academic Support Counselor
Proactively provide information to students and families about seeking accommodations
Observe and evaluate students with learning plans to assess their learning strengths and challenges
Review current accommodation offerings and be knowledgeable about best practices in accommodations
Initiate and schedule parent conferences as needed
Serve as the School’s SSD Coordinator with the College Board (and serves in similar role with ACT and other testing bureaus), which includes managing and tracking all applications and related paperwork
Supervise the Assistant to Student Support’s coordination of on-campus standardized testing, including AP exams, for all students, and administer the testing for students with accommodations. Interpret, summarize, and make recommendations based on standardized testing results
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student profiles on the School’s LMS, including relevant test data, support strategies, and academic accommodations
Maintain confidential student records and keep accurate documentation of sessions, meetings, and assessments
Facilitate referrals to community resources (educational testing, etc.), including follow-up communications with outside professionals
Serve as a resource to faculty to assist them in meeting the needs of their students, including leading occasional workshops and professional development on best practices in conjunction with Academic Support Councilor
Interview and complete academic screenings for Upper School applicants and serve on the Upper School Admissions Team
Serve as a club sponsor and an advisor to a small group of students
Teach in the Health & Wellness Department
Direct one-on-one or small-group instruction
Collaborate with Lower School student support faculty with a special focus on the transition from Lower School to Upper School
Engage in continuing professional development
Network with learning specialists at other independent schools
Participate fully in the life of the Upper School, including attending faculty meetings and in-service
Engage in all aspects of community life while promoting and supporting the OKS mission, vision, and values
Perform other duties as assigned by, and in support of, the Division Head and Head of School
Report to the Upper School Division Head

Qualifications
5+ years of experience in an educational setting working with students at the middle and high school levels to remediate deficits and being part of an interdisciplinary team
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (with a major concentration in special education or similar)
Knowledge of learning disabilities, psycho-educational tests, reports, and assistive technology
Knowledge of administering and interpreting assessments and test results, academic achievement, and diagnostic testing
An excellent communicator with the ability to lead complex conversations with students, colleagues, parents, and outside professionals regarding student issues
An excellent collaborator with the ability to actively contribute to a team of student support faculty with the support of a part-time administrative assistant
Understand the complexities of an adolescent girl, how their brain is developing, and how they learn. Use this knowledge to guide instructional and curricular decisions; apply principles of mind, brain, and education science when teaching, developing curriculum, and assessing student learning
A commitment to girls’ education and to the educational mission of the Catholic Church through the philosophy and spirituality of Cornelia Connelly
Ability to demonstrate growth mindset, optimism, and belief that all students can excel
