The mission of Wytheville Community College is to provide a quality, comprehensive education for the citizens of the counties of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, and Wythe and the city of Galax. To achieve this mission and to fulfill its role as an educational leader and partner, Wytheville Community College commits to a student-centered environment by: providing programs and courses in occupational-technical education, college transfer education, general education, developmental education, distance education, continuing education, and workforce development; utilizing a broad range of instructional technologies, methods, materials, and facilities that are designed to meet the diverse needs of students; offering a supportive, comprehensive program of student development services that contribute to student persistence, success, and citizenship; fueling regional and state economic development by forging partnerships with businesses, industries, public agencies, civic groups, public schools, and other institutions of higher education not only within the service region but throughout the Commonwealth; promoting Appalachian Culture and cultural opportunities of Southwest Virginia; promoting accessibility; promoting accessibility and affordability; and ensuring quality in all programs and services.Some of the job responsibilities include but are not limited to:Designing, coding, development, delivery and maintenance of websites to support the college mission;Managing mobile app;Reviewing statistics and web analytics and taking appropriate actions;Providing appropriate security and feature updates to the website;Ensuring electric content meets accessibility standards to include Section 508;Maintaining Guided Pathways college and career planning web features;Managing college digital signage systems;Assisting with social media and graphic design needs of the college,Designing and delivery of multimedia content to include graphics, photos, and videos;Providing Learning Management System support;Providing student and employee support;Keeping abreast of emerging trends in web design and technologies;Providing training and direction to faculty and staff relative to these activities;Coordinating with the Information Technology Services and Public Relations team to ensure seamless technological operations; andServing as a liaison with other web development personnel within the Virginia Community College System.
Bachelorâ™s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, related field or Commensurate experience equivalent to a Bachelorâ™s;Experience developing and maintaining dynamic, medium-scale websites;Experience with Content Management Systems;Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS;Experience with Microsoft Office Software;Knowledge of desktop and mobile website technologies;Graphic design abilities using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator,and/or other Adobe Creative Suite or similar products;Excellent written and oral communication skills; andAbility to troubleshoot.
