Campus Housing seeks to develop students both in and out of the classroom through a rich residential curriculum, active student involvement in the university’s mission and student’s overall success. With the university and department at the forefront of change, employees must demonstrate the ability of making timely, well-informed decisions, use professional judgement in complex situations; and demonstrate critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills. The Assistant Director of Residential Education must be able to effectively handle complex situations; work calmly and accurately to deescalate situations and resolve escalated issues through constructive and creative approaches.
Campus Housing is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Residential Education. The Assistant Director is responsible for providing an engaging residential life operation that provides a positive and safe living environment that is conducive to living and learning for students, staff, and guests. This position is responsible for a comprehensive curricular residence life program that focuses on academic retention and student development, and the continued development of a Faculty in Residence program. This position assesses and reports on progress toward meeting student learning outcomes impacting student success and retention. This position collaborates and facilitates faculty involvement and outreach. This position
coordinates and advises academic intervention for residents to provide them with support, resources, and referrals to succeed academically. This position establishes personal and professional relationships with Campus Housing residents to promote an environment in which individual students’ rights and the standards of residence are upheld, including a commitment to social justice and inclusion.
The position requires a Master’s degree in Student Development, Higher Education, Management, Public administration or other related education field strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years supervisory and budgetary experience, preferably in Residence Life and Higher Education. Working knowledge of university policy and procedures. Working knowledge of databases and general computer skills.
