Job Title: Academic Support Specialist, High School Focus

Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Academic Support Specialist is to work with High School students who have documented learning differences. The ASC Specialist will work with the student, their parents, teachers, admissions and principals to advocate for the students academic needs.
Essential Job Functions
Regular Activities
Implement Service Plans with targeted accommodations
Create and distribute learning differences spreadsheets, as a quick reference guide, to teachers, administrators and counselors
Collaborate with teachers and parents to implement student accommodations
Maintain student documentation and attend all student evaluation meetings
Maintain a list of current grades for all documented High School students
Keep student service plans current
Review all prospective HS students’ educational assessments for Admissions to TKA
Interview prospective applicants that have a documented learning difference
Meet with the student and their parents to explain the Shepherding Program
Communicate with the Shepherding Coach to set up the “Shepherding Book”
Coordinate accommodations with College Board for PSAT/SAT and AP classes
Work with Academic Counselors to schedule classes for LD students
Oversee the ASC Proctor, who monitors LD students completing unit tests and semester finals
Oversee end of semester final exams for LD students
Maintain a current Tutoring Resource list and Educational Assessment List
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required
3+ years of prior special education experience
Skills and Abilities
Strong leadership qualities and mentoring skills
Excellent skills in communicating both orally and in written form
Able to work both independently and in a team setting
Demonstrated ability to lead by example
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite
Ability to learn new computer software systems

This position will occasionally require you to work nights, weekends and overnights (for trips/events). As much advance notice as possible will be provided.

Pay Grid: ASC HS
Pay Grid Range: $69,171 to $103,134
This position is paid based on a preset salary grid, and the actual salary will be determined by applicable education and experience as determined by the Human Resources department. The starting pay listed reflects this position's minimum experience and education requirements. The top pay range represents the top of the pay grid for this position. It is rare for a candidate to enter this position at the top of the pay grid. Most candidates can expect to enter in the lower to middle section of the pay grid, depending on experience and education.
