Under direction of the Associate Vice Provost, the Executive Director of Summer Sessions (EDSS) provides operational leadership, staff coordination and supervision, and management for UE-internal and campus-wide programs that enhance and promote summer sessions operations. The EDSS focuses on inclusive and equitable access to educational opportunities for undergraduate students through (1) management of summer programs, including prematriculate programs, (2) managing communications and student outreach, (3) by leading initiatives, including expansion of online course offerings, to enhance access, and (4) supporting other academic units in developing and implementing their summer course offerings and special initiatives. The EDSS is also responsible for strategic short and long-term planning of summer sessions. The EDSS manages the Summer Sessions Office and is responsible for budget and fiscal control, identification and pursuit of opportunities to generate new revenue via summer offerings, technical support services, utilization of physical resources, supervision of professional and administrative staff, and other management functions. The EDSS collaborates and communicates with colleges, academic departments, and Student Affairs to build and sustain strategic partnerships that enhance student success, retention, and graduation.

Collaborative aptitude and consulting expertise to affect institutional change in a complex organization. Oral and written skills to communicate in a diverse environment at all levels, with tact and diplomacy in order to achieve program and campus goals. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and evaluate revenue-generation opportunities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
Doctoral degree or an equivalent combination of education and progressive experience leading, developing, and directing university academic instructional and experiential programs.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Ability to interpret and apply complex rules and regulations governing undergraduate education in a research university.
Documented success implementing structural improvements using change leadership methods.
Skills to articulate program purposes and goals to the general public and work with staff to generate interest, funding, and support for services and specialists programs
