The Student Affairs Manager provides integrated administrative, financial, and logistical support for the Department of Modern Culture and Media (MCM), including the Department Chair, the Academic Department Manager (ADM), the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS), the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), and all faculty members and staff.
This position is the first point of contact for MCM with faculty, students, administration, prospective students and their parents, guest lecturers, and adjunct faculty. This position is the primary liaison to the Registrarâ™s Office, the College, and the Graduate School. With input from the DGS, this position manages all logistics of the MCM graduate program, including curriculum administration, logistics, and facilities. Under DUS and DGS direction, this position also manages logistics of the undergraduate program. Additionally, the position processes and tracks faculty and student reimbursements, manages the budget and ordering process for office resources, supervises all departmental Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTA) and the Student Office Assistant, orders materials and equipment, and prepares financial reports for the Chair. Collaborate with the ADM on departmentâ™s Commencement event.
Education and Experience:
â— Bachelorâ™s degree with at 3-5 years of related administrative experience, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
â— Experience in an academic and/or arts administration environment preferred.
â— Excellent oral and written communication skills.
â— Experience preparing and editing correspondence and other documents.
â— Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
â— Self-motivated with the ability to perform tasks with little supervision.
â— Flexible and able to handle multiple simultaneous priorities.
â— Experience with budget management and financial record keeping is preferred.
â— Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community
