Job Description:
Reporting to the Associate Provost for Academic Programs, Planning, and Assessment, the Assistant Director will:
Serve as PDSO and EVA for all incoming F-1 & J-1 students
Act as primary point of contact for incoming and current international students as well as prospective and current study abroad students
Be responsible for transition of international students through effective, timely compliance requirements of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
Initiate exchange/study abroad opportunities and facilitate completion of MOUs/MOAs
Collaborate with faculty & staff regarding maintaining current exchange program processes
Identify and promote study abroad opportunities for students, working collaboratively with academic and faculty leaders in support of diverse experiences and global education learning outcomes
Participate in curricular discussions to support efforts to fulfill the "Global Awareness" SUNY General Education requirement
Partner with Regimental leadership, Admissions, and Student Affairs to provide international education/global awareness training at INDOC and New Student Orientation
Work with the Admissions team to develop and achieve international student enrollment annual goals
Advise and support the international student group/club (including but not limited to, attending Accepted Student Day, chaperone off-campus trips, and help to select student Executive Board)
Deliver incoming international student orientation and outgoing study abroad orientation both fall & spring semesters
Work collaboratively with Summer Sea Term planning to deliver cultural competency/awareness orientation for cadets
Foster development/grant opportunities with the Office of Advancement/SUNY Maritime Foundation
Manage and cultivate an environment that supports successful learning outcomes, retention, and graduation for international students
Work with campus partners to confirm accommodations, financial documentation, and coursework are set prior to the international student's arrival
Organize activities and programs, such as "international week" that engage the campus community and promote awareness of learning opportunities both in the local Bronx community and global
Work closely with the Assistant Director of Learning Support and Accommodations Services to support student accommodations, including alternative testing, for international as well as domestic students
Serve as a secondary resource for accommodations collaboration with faculty
Other duties as assigned
Occasional nights and weekends may be required
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Experience in exchange/study abroad program and advising
Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
Experience living/working/studying abroad
Experience with international education organizations/agencies
Experience with student support, particularly with academic
Additional Information:
Classification/Salary Range: The Coordinator for International Education and Student Success is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range for the position is $55,000 to $60,000 annually, with an outstanding benefits package (for more information please see the Full Time UUP Benefits Summary). Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
