Pathway Navigator
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 9:00am to 5:00pm, may require occasional evenings and weekends
MCCC Unit Professional position, (Enrollment Counselor) Grade 3

The Pathway Navigator connects incoming and continuing students with essential resources such as academic advisors, peer tutoring, financial aid resources, career services, counseling, accessibility services, faculty advising, student engagement activities, financial literacy tools and transportation resources. Navigators assist with new student activities and help students access the student porta, Blackboard, Navigate and other technologies used to support the student experience. Pathway Navigators assist with new student registration and orientation and develops and implement events and workshops for first year students.
The Navigator works daily with students helping them acclimate to the college culture and assess and triage student enrollment issues and barriers to entry. They interact with students, and the public, and NSCC faculty and staff both in person, online, and over the telephone.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support to incoming (new) students at the Student Success Center and in a virtual environment (Centro Hub, live chat, Zoom, etc.)..
Onboard admitted students, discuss Guided Pathway options, and assist with EAB Navigate access.
Ensure students are aware of and utilize the career exploration, degree planning, intake survey, and communication tools.
Ensure students are aware of and utilize support services provided at the Student Success Center and other locations throughout the college.
Participate in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of services to students.
Actively work to understand student's needs and match them with appropriate college resources and opportunities.
Assist students with lower level issues related to registering for classes, adding/dropping courses, use of Campus Pipeline, Navigate, Blackboard and other tools.
Assist with the assessment, registration, and orientation process for incoming students.
Serve as a member of a "Care Team" for a cohort of students as identified by academic pathway.
Identify when to refer higher level issues to an appropriate staff person and follow through by making an appointment for the student and following up to ensure that the issue has been satisfactorily resolved.
Serve as a liaison to a division or area of study. Keep abreast and knowledgeable of Pathway specific curriculum changes as well as service learning opportunities, internships, scholarships, and transfer agreements. Assist the faculty and advisors from that division in serving students.
Assist ongoing students with services that they need to graduate and transfer.
Assist with providing career exploration services and activities for students in assigned pathways.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in related field with two (2) years' experience and/or training involving college enrollment, student support services, financial aid, or customer service; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Familiarity with college student support resources, preferably in a community college setting
Familiarity with college and external career resources and regional labor market
Demonstrated commitment to student success
Experience or familiarity with student systems preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrated sensitivity towards and passion and commitment to working with students and staff of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, different levels of academic preparation, or/and varying physical and learning abilities-prior experience preferred
Must be comfortable serving the public face to face or remotely using technology and able to work effectively both independently and in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment
Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
