Job Summary:
The Emergency Assistance Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the Student Emergency Assistance Program which includes the Maverick Pantry, Emergency Assistance Fund, bookstore loan program, and on-campus emergency housing. Assure adequate support systems and resources are made available to students facing financial and basic needs crises. Responsible for the emergency aid process from application review to fund disbursement. This role will work closely with other campus resource providers, clinicians, student affairs units, and community support systems in coordinating a response that best benefits the student in ensuring their continued enrollment.
Essential Duties:
1. Oversee all Maverick Pantry operations
Manage 5-10 student staff team that consists of graduate assistants and undergraduate students.
Complete weekly inventory of donations received and food orders completed from Tarrant Area Food Bank, Oak Dairy Farms, and Kroger. Complete shopping of product inventory if needed based on pantry needs.
Implement electronic case management system to track inventory and students utilizing pantry support services.
Maintain USDA compliance of pantry cleanliness.
Coordinate volunteers affiliated with Maverick Pantry.
Oversee educational programming related to food insecurity.
Promotion and development of Professional Development Closet & Cap & Gown rental program.
2. Facilitate emergency housing placement.
Determine eligibility for emergency housing placements.
Oversee on campus emergency housing apartments; coordinate maintenance, ensure cleaning in collaboration with facilities management.
Coordinate placement of students in our on-campus partner property (848 Mitchell); work with 848 staff to expand the on-campus housing program.
Purchase supplies and ensure spaces are stocked and ready for temporary student placement.
3. Triage referrals, schedule and coordinate student meetings
Serve as a liaison and coordinate services between the Dean of Students Office and campus and community stakeholders, including follow up with referral sources
Conduct a needs assessment and design and implement evaluation processes
Assist with campus and community outreach efforts to raise awareness of and build resources to support students in need.
Identify the network of on and off -campus services to assist students
Provide timely communication with students in response to their application recognizing that the emergency nature of this program dictates heightened response expectations.
4. Serve as Dean of Students office resource for homeless students, foster care alumni, and students submitting SAP appeals along with other populations requiring specialized support and resources.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in social work, public health, higher education and student affairs, counseling, and/or related field; 1 year of Previous experience working with college students and/or K-12.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in social work, higher education and student affairs, counseling, public health or related field; 2-3 years of previous experience working in higher education. Understanding of social service agencies; Knowledge and experience with university financial aid processes; Experience conducting presentations to both large and small groups; Direct experience working with traditional/non-traditional aged college students.
