The Opportunity
The School of Industrial and Labor Relations Office of Admissions is seeking a Student Services Assistant IV to provide student and administrative support. In this role, you will:
- Inform prospective students and college counselors on such matters as admissions procedures, academic requirements, and other campus recruiting activities.
- Input student data into university databases, such as ImageNow and Slate.
- Maintain internal admissions databases, as well as research, prepare, and draft materials and charts for presentations by Director of Admissions.
- Enter prospective student contact information, application materials, and application decisions for undergraduate applicants.
- Confirm student enrollment through Peoplesoft system.
- Manage implementation of direct mailing to over 300,000 targeted prospective applicants, as well as guidance and transfer counselors.
- Provide operational support for the ILR Admissions Team, including scheduling and planning of events, such as Cornell Days and managing the department calendar.
- Manage office's schedules and room reservations.
- Be responsible for processing receipts and verifying budget expenses.
- Work closely with the Director to manage Admissions Budget.
- Maintain relationships with various vendors that include mail house, printers, editors, photographers, and others.
- Communicate frequently and regularly with multiple constituents within and outside the University, including prospects, applicants, faculty, university offices, etc.
This is a full-time (39 hours/week) Contract College position that is based in Ithaca, NY and completely on-site. Work hours are 8:12am-4:30pm Monday through Friday.

- Hold an Associate degree with 2 to 4 years administrative experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Have a demonstrated ability to work in a lively environment without being distracted.
- Have outstanding people skills and a demonstrated aptitude to work with diverse clientele as the position requires considerable interaction with students, parents, alumni, and other audiences.
- Possess the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/assignments, work under pressure, and meet established deadlines.
- Have past experience functioning as an effective team player.
- Exercise good judgment and logic to anticipate and solve problems independently.
- Utilize organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Leverage excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills to be able to make individualized (non-standard) responses.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Have prior experience with calendar management and logistical planning.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Act as liaison for university admissions offices and admissions processing center.
- Perform highly complex, technical word processing tasks, requiring a thorough knowledge of a
variety of word and data manipulation methods.

- Be familiar with the University policy on release of information for internal and external inquiries regarding student information.
- Proficient with various software such as, but not limited to: Oracle PeopleSoft, ImageNow, Slate, and all Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Previous experience in a high-traffic office.
- Prior experience in an academic setting working with students and faculty.
- Prior experience with event planning.
- Knowledge of Cornell University budget systems and payment request processes.
