As part of this process, we are seeking a collaborative leader to guide the Office of Leadership & Service. The Director of Leadership and Service Programs will create and implement innovative programming and initiatives in the areas of leadership, service and sustainability.
This position will provide oversight for signature programs such as Mizzou Alternative Breaks, STRIPES, Sustain Mizzou, Tiger Pantry and Truman’s Closet. Additionally, this position will serve as the primary advisor to the Missouri Student Association (MSA).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic direction, risk management and daily operations of the Office of Leadership & Service, including the ongoing development and supervision of all staff. This position will make data-informed decisions in line with agreed learning outcomes.
This full-time professional staff position will report directly to the Associate Dean of Students within the Division of Student Affairs. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Essential Functions
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Vision - Provide overall direction, leadership, strategic thinking and visioning for the Office of Leadership & Service
Advising – Serve as the primary advisor to the MSA’s senior leadership. Provide appropriate trainings to MSA leaders. Meet with appropriate university officials to discuss student government related issues/proposals. Provide advising support for the Associated Students of the University of Missouri (ASUM).
Diversity – Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation and best practices. Implement strategies in line with the division’s strategic plan for inclusion, diversity and equity.
Operations and Administration – Provide oversight for the daily operations and administration of the Office of Leadership & Service including implementing departmental goals based on the strategic plan, marketing and communication efforts, campus and community outreach programs, and departmental budget development.
Supervision – Provide supervision, review, support and professional mentorship to three full-time staff, graduate assistants and student staff. Coordinate weekly staff meetings, individual staff meetings, staff evaluations and feedback, and professional development plans.
Risk Management – Develop and implement strategies for risk prevention and/or reduction in all program areas, but specifically STRIPES and Mizzou Alternative Breaks.
Fiscal Oversight – Develop and manage the Office of Leadership & Service budget and develop innovative funding models to operationalize the strategic plan.
Programming – Develop and implement strategic goals and comprehensive programs in the areas of service, leadership and sustainability. Reimagine leadership programming initiatives, specifically for emerging leaders. Provide oversight for Tigers for a Cause and Step Forward Day, and the Community Partner luncheon in addition to signature programming.
Assessment – Use assessment data and feedback from students and university collaborators to continuously improve programs to meet current student needs.
Communication – Create and maintain communication with student leaders, the university community and campus partners through e-mail updates, meetings, trainings, and web and social media. Provide oversight for the publication of the monthly newsletter. Ensure all published information is current, updated regularly and grounded in best practices.
Collaboration – Work collaboratively with various offices in Student Affairs to further the mission of the Office of Leadership & Service. Cultivate and maintain relationships with community service partners.
Participate in departmental and/or divisional meetings to communicate the business of the Office of Leadership & Service.
As with all positions, other duties and responsibilities are expected to enhance and maintain our departmental and Student Affairs mission.
Salary Information
$48,900 - $80,000/year; paid on a monthly basis
Grade: GGS 10
University Title: Senior Student Service Coordinator
Schedule
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree plus three years of experience or bachelors degree plus five years of experience.
