Detailed Description: The Associate Director of Employer Relations reports to the Sr Director of the Career Development Center. As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Associate Director oversees the external employer and alumni engagement functions of the Center. A proven relationship builder, the Associate Director leads the strategic cultivation of a robust network of employer partnerships to surface career pathways and opportunities for University of San Diego students and alumni.
An entrepreneurial self-starter, the Associate Director is a thought partner and changemaker across functional teams of the Center, proactively engaging employers and alumni in the student career development process leading to successful post-graduate outcomes. An advocate of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, the Associate Director empowers employers to develop inclusive recruiting practices and connect with students to advance the mission of the Career Development Center and the University of San Diego.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Employer Partnership Development
Under the guidance and direction of the Senior Director - develops and drives the strategic external engagement strategy of the Career Development Center to cultivate and surface internship, job, and career opportunities for USD students
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to elevate employers' recruitment activity at USD with an emphasis on producing a high retention rate of recruitment relationships and affinity to the university
Embodies a culture of care - provides and models a high level of customer service to employer and external partners serving as a positive differentiator for their experience at USD
An advocate of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts - helps employers develop inclusive recruiting practices and facilitates connections with diverse student populations across campus
Implements scalable processes and initiatives to help companies build talent pipelines from USD while fostering mentoring and networking connections for students across all majors and disciplines
Collaborate with the Assessment team of the Career Development Center to leverage data insights to inform employer/alumni outreach and prospecting efforts to meet the employment needs of USD students
Collaborates across Career Development Center teams (career counseling) and the campus community to creatively embed employers in the student experience (class presentations, research projects, events, student organizations, etc)
Oversees the implementation of classification, tracking, and communication systems to strategically manage, engage, and grow the Career Development Center's portfolio of 30,000+ employer connections
Partners with other external facing offices including Advancement, Corporate Relations, Alumni Relations, and others to maximize synergistic collaborations
Builds mutually beneficial partnerships with economic development and employment ecosystems (Startup San Diego, San Diego Regional Economic Development, San Diego Chamber of Commerce, Tech San Diego, etc.) to advance student success and post graduate outcomes
Oversees the successful execution of all employer related engagement activities (career fairs, on-campus interviews, information sessions, etc.)
Oversees the management and utilization of the Handshake jobs platform including the employer approval and job/internship vetting process
Keeps current on employment, workforce, and economic trends that impact college recruitment while disseminating that knowledge into action for the Career Development Center
Alumni Engagement
Lead alumni engagement strategy - creating positive synergy between the employer and alumni engagement functional areas of the Career Development Center - proactively embedding alumni in career programming and campus recruitment initiatives
Oversee strategic collaborations and initiatives with the Alumni Office to cultivate relationships with alumni to build talent pipelines and hire from USD
Develop an in-depth familiarity with the employment needs of the various academic areas of campus informing the alumni and employer engagement strategy of the Career Development Center
Supervision
Provide strategic leadership and supervision of the employer engagement and alumni relations functional areas of the Career Development Center - while creating collaborative synergy with members of these teams both internally and across the campus community
Foster an inclusive, entrepreneurial, and impact driven culture with a focus on empowering team members towards a shared vision of maximizing student success and outcomes

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in appropriate/related field of study and 3 or more years of related work experience. Or Bachelors degree in appropriate/related field of study and 5 or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced skills with prospecting outreach and relationship management
Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce, Handshake, etc.)
3 or more years of supervisory experience

Ability to strategically determine new projects and initiatives that drive success; executing ideas from start to finish while directing staff
Strong track record of strategic decision making with consistent follow-through and accomplishment
Proven ability to build and nurture networks of internal and external relationships and produce tangible results
Advanced relationship management and customer service skills
Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
Ability to articulate the value of USD students to prospective employers
Ability to work collaboratively on team projects with diverse individuals including students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and other external partners
Ability to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders including campus partners, employers, alumni, economic development entities, and others
Knowledge of economic, macro, industry, and workforce trends that impact the college recruiting landscape
Ability to solicit, aggregate, and share information and knowledge from employers to benefit the Career Development Center and USD
Thorough with a high degree of attention to detail
Ability to strategically develop and implement outreach and prospecting campaigns to yield new employer recruiting relationships
Experience in preparing and managing budgets
Knowledge and understanding of local, state, federal labor markets
Ability to travel as needed to on- and off-campus sites
Ability to set and meet objectives for professional development for self and direct reports
Understanding of cultural diversity issues
Posting Salary: $7,000.00 - $7,500.00 per month; Excellent Benefits
