As a member of the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Educational Partnership Center (EPC) coordinates new and longstanding student academic preparation efforts of the University of California, Santa Cruz with the goal of increasing access and opportunity to postsecondary education for students across the Monterey Bay and Silicon Valley/San Jose regions. We provide an array of direct services, supporting students on the college-going pathway through tutoring, mentoring, academic planning and counseling, leadership training, test preparation, college awareness and enrichment, and teacher professional development.
EAOP, under the umbrella of the EPC, serves under-represented, low-income students from Pajaro Valley and Monterey County with the goal of increasing their rate of participation in post-secondary education.
Under the general supervision of the EAOP/Access Program Director, the EAOP Special Projects Coordinator will help in planning, designing and implementing new initiatives for the EAOP/Access programs that serve middle and high school students by increasing access to higher education for underrepresented students across the Monterey Bay, Pajaro Valley, and Silicon Valley. The initiatives may include expanding alumni relationships, youth leadership initiatives, special event planning and community partnership development. The EAOP Special Projects Coordinator will work closely with the EAOP Program Director on starting an EAOP Youth Advisory Board, building leadership trainings for staff and students, developing an alumni network, organizing alumni-led student field trips, building relationships with new local businesses and community-based organizations, supporting with event planning and coordination, and other special projects co-developed by the EAOP communities and team.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary: $59,620 - $65,260 / Annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

JOB DUTIES
50% - Responsible for co-designing and developing special projects initiatives with the EAOP/Access Program Director, EAOP staff and EAOP students. Participates in strategic short and long-term program planning to develop initiatives that best serve students and their families. Plans and implements initiatives with the support of the Program Director, evaluates outcomes of initiatives, and ensures goals and objectives are met. Designs and implements workshops, materials and activities to support initiatives. Facilitates workshops for school communities as well as coaching and meetings with student leaders.
40% - Develops collaborative relationships and new partnerships with community-based organizations. Serves on external workgroups and committees in networking efforts. Develops relationships with alumni and creates opportunities for alumni engagement in programming. Meets regularly with student groups to develop new initiatives to support program goals. Serves as an advocate for students and families. Monitors progress towards program grant goals with EAOP/Access Program Director.
10% - Works closely with the EAOP/Access Program Director to identify and secure resources sufficient to sustain and expand program initiatives in the region.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Significant experience advising and supporting students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first-generation urban youth.
Experience with large and small-scale event planning.
Experience collaborating and planning with youth. Strong facilitation skills a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.) admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth and families.
Strong knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
Must possess CPR/First Aid/AED certification or have the ability to obtain it within 60-calendar days of hire.
Must possess a valid license to drive in the state of California.
Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.
Ability to perform essential physical job functions.
Will be required to work a hybrid work schedule, days of the week and number of days to be determined, and be able to fulfill requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as directed.
Selected candidate will be required to take a TB test within 60 days of hire.
Selected candidate will be required to complete training within established time frames as directed including UC compliance training.
Ability to travel to multiple work locations on and off campus.
