Job Description
The Assistant Dean of Students is responsible for implementing the student conduct process, assisting with investigations, and training & advising Community Living staff on all conduct-related matters. The Assistant Dean will also be responsible for integration of the commuter student population into the broader Siena campus community including orientation, advising, and engagement. The Assistant Dean will serve as the main Student Life representative on all Information Technology related matters, including serving on the Governance in Information Technology Committee, Data Classification Committee, and SAINT Card Committee, co-chair the Student Concerns Team and supervise the Student Race-Bias Conduct Advisory Committee. The Assistant Dean is required to participate in an on-call duty rotation and reside in campus-provided housing due to evening & weekend obligations.
Job Requirements
Master's degree required, in higher education, law or related field
Minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in student life/affairs
Demonstrated ability to work with broad segments of a college community- faculty, staff, students
Ability to be an effective team member who can foster strong relationships across organizational boundaries
Strong written and communication skills and knowledge of compliance issues as they relate to Student Life
Crisis intervention and management
Demonstrated experience in student conduct procedures, processes and legal issues
Demonstrated experience with student sexual misconduct and harassment/discrimination cases, knowledge of student sexual misconduct and discrimination and harassment best practices along with the ability to train campus constituencies on these topics.
Ability to be an effective team member who can foster strong relationships and collaborations across organizational boundaries.
Understanding diversity and inclusion practices and student success.
Understanding of the mission and values of a Franciscan and Catholic institution.
Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and public relations skills.
Demonstrated administrative skills and experience in: organizing detailed and complex information and systems; planning, implementing and evaluating programs; budget development and fiscal/statistical management.
Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a constantly changing environment
Extensive knowledge of FERPA, HEOA.
Maintain Conduct Database (plans data entry, assigns data entry)
Student Conduct Board best practices and management
Other duties as assigned
