The Outreach Coordinator coordinates recruitment and retention efforts for the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) undergraduate students within the in-state and reduced tuition geographic areas defined by Enrollment Services. The position designs and implements marketing strategy for all CECS UG programs to prospective students and manages development of marketing collateral within outreach efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Tracks/defines quality of community engagement; ensures alignment of outreach with the larger goals of CECS (i.e. increased female enrollment, increased representation across racial/ethnic groups); and analyzes data and tracks various data points to determine outreach strategies that best serve the CECS enrollment goals.
Develops programs, resources, and events to support prospective student engagement; develops and maintains positive relationships with outward facing partners (i.e. STEM instructors, high school counselors, administrators and industry partners) as well as inward facing partners (i.e. Admissions, Challenger Center, GEAR UP, CECS faculty, club/org faculty advisors, Marketing and Communications, etc.): and skillfully coordinates, manages, and evaluates efficacy of events.
Manages tours and outreach activities for internal or external customers; hires, trains, and supervises student staff or other personnel as they conduct tours for prospective students, school groups, and various college guests in addition to performing and assisting other various outreach duties; and works with academic departments to provide faculty meetings to prospective students.
Actively engages in the CECS committees which support the college on special projects in connection with outreach and student engagement, including marketing activities; guides and supports CECS efforts to increase diversity and community engagement; and closely monitors outreach budget and manages marketing inventory.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Knowledge of Excel and Mailchimp (or other email distribution platform).
- Knowledge of basic computer operating systems.
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with various high-level community and college personnel.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive professional relationships with diverse people and to operate autonomously towards the goals of CECS.
- Ability to manage expenditures.
- Ability to coordinate and manage events.
- Ability to work effectively with students and faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience levels.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience (training and managing others, relationship development within the community, and managing marketing inventory and collateral) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree; experience in education in a student-facing role; experience with federal guidelines regarding students; and knowledge of student-facing services in higher education.
