Job Description:
To provide the MSMU community with responsive ethical and professional clinical services as well as outreach and consultation activities that are conducive to enhancing student development and supporting the educational mission of the university. To receive advanced training and supervision in the provision of clinical services to the college population in order to prepare the Postdoctoral Fellow for licensure as a psychologist. The 2023-2024 Postdoctoral Fellowship positions (2qty) are full-time, limited-term, and benefits eligible.
Hourly Rate Range: $21.40 - $26.79/hour
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides psychological assessment, crisis intervention, psychotherapy and referrals for students on both the Doheny and Chalon campus.
Provides psycho-educational outreach programming and training for the college community. These programs can include presentations, workshops, bulletin board displays, training for student leaders, special projects, collaborative efforts with other departments, etc.
Acts as a consultant to faculty, staff, and students on mental health concerns and possible intervention strategies.
Attends specified staff meetings, orientation sessions, and campus committees.
Provides accurate information and data about CPS services through monthly reports and analysis of outcome surveys.
Comes prepared to supervision meetings and complete paperwork in a timely manner.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
Participates in development and marketing projects as specified by the Director and Associate Director.
Requirements:
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of clinical assessment and intervention techniques, outreach programming, and crisis intervention strategies.
Knowledge and interest in expanding knowledge of gender, legal/ethical and diversity issues.
Working knowledge of computers and basic word processing, spreadsheet and publisher programs is desired.
Abilities and Skills:
Effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
Exercise sound judgment and decision-making, including requesting supervision and consultation on clinical issues when appropriate, and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information effectively.
Identify and implement appropriate psychological interventions.
Work well independently and with others.
Demonstrate and interest in and understanding of the needs of students, faculty and staff in a diverse college environment.
Build rapport, communicate and work effectively with students, staff and other trainees for various backgrounds and at various academic skill levels.
Keep efficient and accurate records.
Excellent listening, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Good organizational and prioritization, oral/written communication and presentation skills and desire and ability to be supervised and trained by licensed professional staff.
Education:
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited institution.
Experience:
Must have completed Doctoral degree and finished internship before starting date of position.
Should have prior experience with performing intakes and providing psychotherapy to adults or young adults, and an interest in outreach and consultation in the university setting.
