Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
UNC Charlotte is seeking a dynamic social worker to serve students and families at Niner University Elementary.
Consults with teachers and other school personnel to obtain information and make decisions regarding student needs.
Encourages an environment that is inviting, respectful, supportive, inclusive, and flexible.
Provides leadership and collaborates with other school personnel to provide effective school social work services.
Appreciates differences and values the contributions of each student in the learning environment by building positive, appropriate relationships.
Collaborates with administrators
Gathers background information on the students' social history by conducting behavioral observations, making home visits, conducting interviews, and reviewing school records
Coordinates with the School of Social Work at the UNC Charlotte College of Health & Human Services to support and oversee social work interns assigned to Niner University Elementary.
Collaborates with administrators, teachers, and a range of specialists to help meet the special needs of all students.
May participate in evaluation process by conducting the student social/developmental history and parent interviews.
Supports the school's mission and student success through developing and utilizing internal and external partnerships and resources.
Serves as a liaison between the student, home, school, and community resources such as social services, court services, and family service agencies.
Provides follow-up support and periodic re-evaluation services as necessary.
Acts as a member of the school crisis team to provide intervention to students as necessary.
Makes court appearances to present data and performs cout-requested evaluations.
Compiles monthly reports and maintains accurate case records.
Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary student services team to assist in sharing information and making decisions to meet student needs.
Collects and analyzes student data to plan and evaluate the effectiveness of service delivery.
Adapts practices based on current relevant research findings and data to best meet the needs of students, families, staff and the community of Niner University Elementary.
Serves as a resource to teachers and staff regarding social work services and the academic/social needs of students.
Organizes and conducts specialized programs to include parent training classes and student support activities.
Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the social work profession.
