Position Description: Working under the general supervision of the Associate Registrar for Student Services, the Residence Deputy counsels and advises prospective students, families, and campus community on University of California residence requirements in accordance with Section 23056 of the Education Code of the State of California and the Standing Orders of the Regents. Per Regental Standing Order 110.2, the residence deputy is exclusively authorized to determine legal residence classification for tuition purposes for students on the UCLA campus. Acts as resource expert and advisor on residence matters to campus academic and student service offices, as well as secondary school and college counselors, military representatives, student designated representatives, and the general public. Analyzes and determines residence status for tuition purposes of students entering and reentering the University. Interviews students, reviews complex immigration documents, analyzes and processes petitions for reclassification from nonresident to resident status. Evaluates and determines eligibility of students petitions for special exemptions of nonresident tuition (Military, Faculty, California Resident Dependent, Visa and AB540 - California High School graduates and U.C. Employees). Conducts residence workshops for departments and Graduate Orientation. Consults with the Office of the General Counsel when exceptional or unusual cases go beyond the scope of the Standing Order of the Regents. Performs a wide range of support and administrative/counseling functions in the Registration and Enrollment unit.
Special Instructions: The target salary range for this position is between the posted minimum and $26.82 hourly.
