Work Schedule: M-F. Schedule may vary according to college and department needs.
Salary Range: $91,400- $112,000. Where a candidate falls within the range is based on years of experience above the minimum requirements and internal equity.

Manage critical cyclical academic processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The academic associate dean is a twelve month administrative leadership position that supports curricular operations with the goal of creating more sustainable, transparent, and collaborative systems and processes, in alignment with MICAâs mission, vision, and strategic plan. The academic associate dean collaborates with academic leadership and faculty to forward innovative programs and partnerships that advance MICAâs mission, and help to realize MICAâs commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and globalization. The academic associate deanâs duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
ASSESSMENT & CURRICULUM
Manage Academic Program Reviews within the division.
Coordinate collection of Annual Reports and create draft divisional report.
Lead cyclical Program Learning Outcomes assessment for the division.
Support compliance with requirements of external accreditation bodies.Â
Support curricular innovation through management of relevant budgets, grants, and cyclical processes.
Participate in the design and implementation of professional development opportunities for Academic Affairs staff and faculty.
Represent the division in cyclical planning and implementation of significant academic year events such as Commencement, Orientation, and Capstone/Thesis Exhibitions.
POLICY & COMPLIANCE
Collaborate with Academic Affairs partners to develop, support, and communicate unified, transparent academic policies.
Collaborate with Academic Affairs partners to develop, support, and communicate unified, transparent compliance with faculty and staff labor policies.
Collaborate with divisional and campus partners to assure compliance with Academic Affairs Policies, such as Field Trip Guidelines, Academic Warning and Dismissal, Leaves of Absence, Medical Withdrawal, Plagiarism, etc.
Address complaints & appeals from students and faculty by advising, mediating, or coaching, and when necessary, liaising, when appropriate, with divisional and campus partners, such as PB&C and Student Affairs.
STUDENTS & FACULTY
Collaborate with Academic Affairs partners to develop, support, and communicate unified onboarding and guidance for full-time and part-time faculty new to the division.
Coordinate student and faculty participation in annual/cyclical events such as recruitment (admissions), registration, orientation, and retention.
Responsibilities Specific to the Division: Graduate Studies
Graduate Studies serves a diverse student body enrolled in more than a dozen residential graduate degree programs, both terminal degrees and professional specialized degrees. There are duties and responsibilities specific to supporting Graduate Studies; these include, but are not limited to the following:
Teach one 3-credit course (or the equivalent) annually, usually in the division of Graduate Studies (no additional compensation)
Manage cyclical communication and policy compliance for faculty sabbatical leave and faculty evaluation cycles.
Collate and communicate evolving graduate elective offerings and cyclical integrated learning opportunities to graduate students and faculty.
Conduct twice-yearly review of course syllabi to assure compliance with MICAâs unified syllabus guidelines.
Support communication and curricular compliance with Thesis Submission cycle.
Communicate and implement the annual AICAD Fellows graduate student application cycle.
Develop and facilitate special educational opportunities and post-graduate experiences for graduate students and recent alumni.
After six years of excellent performance, the Graduate Studies academic associate dean may continue in the role, or plan to transition to the full-time faculty ranks, teaching in their areas of disciplinary expertise. Salary for full-time faculty is different from the staff compensation structure; on transition to faculty, candidates should plan for a salary and contract shift.

Minimum Qualifications (all AA divisions):Â
Education: Terminal degree or demonstration of the equivalent level of professional accomplishment.
Deep, varied, and substantive teaching experience relevant to a curricular area at MICA (art, design, art education, liberal arts)
Evidence of sustained scholarly professional contributions relevant to a curricular area at MICA (art, design, art education, liberal arts)
Prior engagement in academic administration (e.g. governance activities and/or administration of a department, program, or school)
Demonstrated track record of empathic and accountable leadershipÂ
Knowledge of:Â Â
Data collection, analysis, and reporting, as these relate to curricular program assessment
Structures, issues, and trends in higher education
Comfort using software platforms such as Workday, Asana, Google Workspace
Preferred Qualifications (all AA divisions):
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at levels relevant to the division.
Evidence of sustained engagement in art & design contexts, or with artists and designers.Â
Demonstrated success using justice-informed approaches to teaching and/or organizational change.
Experience with strategic planning for multiple and diverse constituencies.
Prior engagement in sponsored projects or college & community collaborations.
Professional recognition in a field of creative or scholarly inquiry.

While there are no direct reports to this position, the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies is supported by and collaborates with a team of six Graduate Studies staff members, 14 graduate program directors, and an array of academic and community partners.
