The Academic Advisor will work with their Academy Team, consisting of advisors, faculty, the Dean, and the Director of Advising to provide high quality academic advising services to MCTC students enrolled in academic programs that fall under the Academy to which you are assigned. Utilizing an intrusive and progressive advising model, provide consistent, timely, accurate information to students regarding college curricular and policy requirements relative to academic program planning. Assist students to develop and successfully complete their career and educational goals, effectively use the College resources available to them, and use and interpret college information.
This position may be eligible for telework per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
Education and/or work experience in related areas such as Advising, Counseling, program development in a school setting and etc...
Computer skills, advanced knowledge of MS office, e-mail and internet.
Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including listening, speaking, writing and the ability to deal tactfully with diverse populations in a positive, courteous, and helpful manner.
Strong problem-solving skills sufficient to identify and clarify problems or issues, to prepare and execute possible solutions under the direction of a supervisor
Ability to work with underrepresented and diverse populations

Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) is a public two-year college located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.
