Position Summary
The Nolan School Registrar manages a team of two full-time staff members to deliver high-quality service to all Nolan programs and students. The Nolan School Registrar reports to the Nolan School's Director of Student Services and secondarily to the School's Associate Dean for Academic Affairs on curricula and academic processes and policies. Further, the Nolan School Registrar is accountable to the University Registrar on issues related to compliance with University-wide policies, and state and federal laws and regulations related to students' academic records. Partnering with the University Registrar, the Nolan School Registrar provides interpretation of and promotes and upholds policies, and federal and state laws and regulations as they relate to the school/college.
This role will also have frequent interaction with peer School Registrars in the SC Johnson College of Business (at Dyson and the Johnson School), the College course planning and integration team in the Academic Affairs Office. Additionally, this role will be tasked with the collaboration and coordination with staff colleagues who collectively contribute to college initiatives.
The Nolan School Registrar is a vital staff member and leader within the Nolan School given their knowledge of Nolan's degree programs and expertise in managing course information, student enrollment, grades and grading, enrollment, room scheduling and data reporting. Further, the Nolan School Registrar is called upon to represent the school in collaboration efforts with both University offices and the SC Johnson College of Business. In working with University and College colleagues, the Nolan School Registrar serves as an expert on the needs and interests of the school's programs, students, and faculty.
This role ensures the integrity and confidentiality of student records in accordance with university policies and FERPA regulations. The Nolan School Registrar is also responsible for interpreting, implementing, and enforcing school, college and university policies and procedures governing student records, courses, and academic requirements.
This is a full-time position and requires occasional attendance at events held on evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in database and spreadsheet applications
- Experience using electronic student information management systems.
- Sound judgement, creativity, and the ability to work well within a team of professionals and a wide variety of students and other stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Superior written and oral communication skills are a must, including the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and concisely.
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experiences as a Registrar, Associate or Assistant Registrar.
- Experience working with PeopleSoft.
- An understanding of relational databases.
