Job Description Summary:
Responsible for providing at Laurel College Center (LCC) the basic student services functions pertaining to admissions, registration, placement testing, financial aid application, educational and career advisement, transfer advisement, new student orientation, leadership development, College Life Service events, co-curricular programming, social media and coordinating efforts with Student Services staff at Prince George's Community College's and Howard Community College's main campus regarding assistance to students with more complex concerns.
This grant-funded position period ends 8/1/2023.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE
Associates degree or equivalent formal training in related field
Combination of education and related experience for a total of five to six years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSANDABILITIES
Ability to provide excellent and friendly customer service to students, staff, faculty and the community.
Ability to multi-task and be flexible.
Exhibit strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate various events and activities for students, staff, faculty, and community.
Exhibit strong and effective academic advising skills.
Proficient in the use of computer technology to support departmental activity, e.g., Colleague, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
Skill and confidence in leading small group presentations Ability to work independently.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
OTHERREQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work Monday thru Thursday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
