JOB SUMMARY:
The Resident Assistant role (RA) is a SC4 Housing Residential Staff live-in position that serves as a mentor for housing residents. The Resident Assistant assists in supporting SC4 Housing’s mission in creating a living community that fosters academic success, personal and professional growth, and inclusion and multiculturalism. Resident Assistants will help fulfill this mission by facilitating positive relationships between housing residents, programming events, and connecting residents with campus resources. Additionally, for the ensured safety and security of the residents and housing facility itself, Resident Assistants serve in an on call/emergency response capacity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, prepare, budget, and host housing community events for residential community.
Meet, interact, build rapport, and continually assist and educate residential community.
Fulfill scheduled front desk service shifts (shift times: Monday - Fridays 4:30pm – 8:30pm).
Fulfill scheduled nightly and weekend duty shifts on rotating basis with other Resident Assistants.
Create and maintain monthly Bulletin Boards.
Attend regular residential staff and one on one housing professional meetings.
Assist with specialty events including but not limited to move-in/move-out and housing orientation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports to the Manager of College Housing
SUPERVISION GIVEN: None.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years of customer service experience preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
SC4 Housing Resident Assistants must be full-time SC4 students (enrolled or to be enrolled in 12 credits/contact hours or more) during the terms of employment.
Candidates must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA prior to hiring and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA per semester during Terms of Employment.
Must physically be able to walk and climb stairs and ramps.
Must possess effective written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions.
Employee must successfully complete a criminal background check.
Ability to provide quality customer service and utilize communication skills.
Must have proficient computer and phone operating skills.
Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard.
Effective interpersonal skills across all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional manner.
