The Program Supervisor for Supplemental Instruction will assist in the coordination of the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program and supervise peer-led group study sessions for students taking designated high-risk courses in an effort to enhance student success and promote student retention. The Supplemental Instruction (SI) program at SIUE is a non-remedial, institution-wide academic assistance program that increases student performance and retention. The SI program targets traditionally difficult academic courses — those that have an approximate 30% rate of D or F grades and withdrawals — and provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer facilitated group study sessions. SI does not identify high-risk students, but rather identifies high-risk courses. To learn more about the Supplemental Instruction program, visit: https://www.siue.edu/lss/supplemental-instruction/
The Program Supervisor will attend regular meetings with the Coordinator and Graduate Assistants regarding daily program operations, help the SI Program Coordinator prepare and update training materials, and assist with administrative tasks which include daily running of the program. The selected candidate will participate in training sessions for new leaders and team leaders as well as mentor, observe, and evaluate SI staff and peer leaders. This position will also work with the Coordinator to hold and/or attend semester, bi-weekly, and weekly meetings with Retention and Enrollment Management (EM3) staff.
As part of the year-end review, the Program Supervisor will analyze and evaluate program success through student and program evaluation survey trends and statistical analysis and work with the Coordinator to research, develop, and implement technology, strategies, and materials to improve and streamline the program. To help grow the success of the program, this position will develop marketing and advertising strategies to promote SI to students, faculty and administrators. Additionally, this position will maintain and update the SI Blackboard, OneDrive, databases and shared drive files. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the program.
