The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts (ASMSA), a campus of the University of Arkansas System, invites applications from qualified candidates for ten-month, full-time openings as Residential Experience Coordinators beginning August 1, 2023. Residential Experience Coordinators are on-campus, live-in positions that provide direct support and guidance to both ASMSA students and their families. In brief, ASMSA is tasked with providing extraordinary opportunities for a diverse group of students. Established by the General Assembly in 1991 as a public, residential high school to serve talented and motivated Arkansas high school students from throughout the state as a school of choice, ASMSA—located in historic downtown Hot Springs and adjacent to Hot Springs National Park—is one of only 15 public, residential high schools in the United States focusing on advanced educational experiences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as well as the arts. ASMSA offers more than 50 courses for college credit, and all students earn an average of 50 hours of college credit while finishing high school. Graduates achieve an average ACT composite score of 30. Newsweek, The Daily Beast, and The Washington Post have ranked ASMSA among the nation’s Top 25 high schools. ASMSA has been recognized by Code.org, Study.com, and the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools for its national excellence in STEM education. Residential Experience Coordinators are charged with the oversight and safety of approximately 35 adolescent students in tenth through twelfth grades. Coordinators work in collaboration with a team of Residential Mentors for campus programming, development assessment of students, and Student Center operations. Coordinators will also serve in leadership roles for the development and implementation of a new Student Develop Curriculum that focuses on topics in social-emotional learning, leadership, and engagement. A Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, college student personnel, counseling, social work, or a related field is required. Successful candidates should have at least two years of residence life or student affairs experience along with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of residential functions, operations, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Experience developing focused experiences for students and demonstrated commitment in continual learning and institutional improvement are preferred. Candidate must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid driver’s license. Visit www.asmsa.org for institutional information. Review of applications will commence on February 15, 2023, and continue until all positions have been filled. The salary is $35,000. Private room and utilities are available for the full year while meals are provided while school is in session. Additional benefits include health, dental, vision, and retirement matching contributions. ASMSA is an AA/EOE employer.
