Job DescriptionStaff/Registered Nurse, University Health Services, Student Affairs
The registered nurse working for University Health Services provides physical, psychological, and emotional care on a 10-bed inpatient unit as well as assessing/treating walk-in patients in an emergent/urgent care setting. The nurse will be responsible for:
- identifying patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other
persons to understand patient needs; - following the nursing process; evaluating patients seeking medical or emergency treatment/advice by performing a thorough nursing assessment, providing first-aid treatment and communicating findings to treating practitioners; and
- communicating test/lab findings to treating practitioners.
The nurse will also be responsible for coordinating treatment by communicating with the multidisciplinary team, which includes but is not limited to, physicians, nurses, administration, counseling, BC Police Department, and emergency rooms; arranging for referrals, tests, transportation, and admissions. The nurse will resolve patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies; providing counseling regarding health care practices and prescribed medical treatment.
In order to create a more inclusive community within the Division of Student Affairs, each staff member is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.
This is a full time/ benefit eligible position during the academic year with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Spring Breaks. The expected schedule for this position is 3-11 pm during the week with every other weekend either 7-3 pm or 3-11 pm shifts, It is a 40 hours/week alternating with 32 hours/week position.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $69,100 to $86,350; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements- Registered Nurse with MA license.
- At least three years of experience in an ambulatory, emergency or college health setting.
- Some computer and medical records experience is required.
