Frostburg State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for a contractual full-time position working 50% with Assistant Athletics Director for Engagement and 50% in Assistant Athletics Director for Academics and Student-Athlete Development. This position is an entry level position that will provide day to day support in both areas. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain a high degree of experience in both areas. This position will have an hourly rate $13.25 and includes a limited benefits package.
FSU boasts 25 varsity sports (11 men/14 women) at the NCAA Division II level that compete in the Mountain East Conference and the East Coast Conference.
Responsibilities: Assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Engagement and the Assistant Athletics Director for Academics and Student-Athlete Development/SWA with day-to-day operational objectives.
Engagement Duties:
Assist with the development and implementation of an innovative game atmosphere through marketing and promotions that target the increase interest and attendance by student, faculty, staff, alumni, and the broader external community.
Research, cultivate and support community engagement opportunities within the athletic department.
Assist with on-site game day gate operations. Required for home football games, basketball games, and championship events. Utilize electronic and cash ticketing platforms, supervise student-workers, assist with will call and complimentary pass lists.
Must be available to work nights and weekends; weekday day shifts as needed.
Ability to focus in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to change and adapt to new processes, with a problem-solving mindset.
Academics and Student Development Duties:
Mentor student-athletes in all facets of their personal and athletic growth.
Help monitor study hall.
Educate and connect student-athletes with academic opportunities and resources available to them.
Develop academic recovery plans for under performing student-athletes.
Develop and facilitate workshops and programs geared toward academic success and life skills.
Assist with the supervision and development of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Coordinate and promote events as assigned by the Assistant Director.
General Duties:
Provide day-to-day administrative support to both Athletic Directors while exercising confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Positive attitude.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in computer operation, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and master new computer programs including ARMS Compliance Software and Navigate Academics Software.
Other duties as assigned relating to operating and supporting the Athletic Department.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. Ability to innovate, stay organized, and interact with college students in a professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and/or one year of related work experience. Advanced advising skills.
