Position Summary: This position resides within Student Affairs and advises assigned college or unit administrative leadership about financial matters, and oversees and advises the Student Affairs Executive leadership team about financial and administrative decisions affecting their units. This position is responsible for ensuring the fiscal integrity of all general education, donation, revenue, grant and other budgets within the specified units; ensuring compliance with all governing federal, state and University of Idaho policies and procedures; and for providing the full spectrum of budgeting and administrative requirements for the unit including high-level budget planning and fiscal management.
Provides leadership, support, direction, and training for administrative units and financial support staff
Collaboratively develops current and long-term budgets
Monitors funds usage and preparing budget projections, developing, and providing periodic financial reports for unit leadership and other administrators as required
Provides leadership and guidance for business processes
Acts as a representative for the units in policy and compliance matters, financial business, accountability, and financial strategic planning in addition to providing general unit support in areas of strategic importance
Other duties as assigned
Positions at this level manage a portfolio of funds for a college or division with annual operating expenses of approximately $10 - $20m, comprised of auxiliary funds, student fees, general education funding and additional fund types of moderate to high complexity. Positions most often supervise dedicated fiscal specialists and the work of administrative and/or financial specialists with alternate reporting lines within the college or division. Fiscal operations at this level generally support activities of 100 - 200 faculty and staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher in Finance, Accounting or Business/Public Administration
Five years of management-level and/or supervisory experience in the areas of budget, fiscal or business operations including:
Working with administrators to develop budgets; monitoring use of funds; use of electronic business systems; organizing and analyzing financial data in spreadsheet software to prepare summaries and financial reports; editing and writing business correspondence; using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in business, economics, accounting, or related field
Experience supervising staff
Experience working in an academic setting
Experience working with state or federal governmental funds
Experience utilizing database systems, spreadsheets, and accounting systems to analyze, compile and produce a variety of reports
