Columbia Basin College (“CBC” or the “College”) seeks a Foundation Program Officer to be responsible for managing all Foundation programs related to supporting students. This position manages all facets of the scholarship program including donor stewardship, identifying areas of needed support, promoting the program to students, and managing the application and review process. The Foundation Program Officer is also responsible for managing the emergency funds, student stipends, and working with other departments on campus to streamline and enhance the student experience with a focus on student enrollment, retention and completion. This position reports to the Senior Director for Development.

Primary Responsibilities:
Administer scholarship funds, both annual and perpetual, in collaboration with development staff and donors; monitor donations, the scholarship program budget and forecast annual funding needs;
Coordinate with volunteer committees who select recipients and communicate with students and faculty to ensure funding is available;
Work with the Foundation team to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward relationships with new and existing prospects for scholarship donations;
Help identify major areas where scholarship support is needed; participate in annual scholarship appeals to solicit for these areas;
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the scholarship program; evaluate program annually and implement changes as appropriate in collaboration with College staff;
Prepare all scholarship program materials including scholarship database preparation and marketing on Foundation and College websites;
Create policies and procedures related to the scholarship database; train development staff, campus partners and volunteers on proper use;
Work collaboratively with the College Financial Aid Office, Student Services and other College staff to ensure accuracy and follow-through on all Foundation supported activities and processes;
Collaborate with Workforce Education Center (WEC), completion coaches and other College staff to streamline student support requests, evaluate efficiency and adjust programs to best meet the needs of students;
In consultation with Foundation staff and Marketing and Communications team, develop an annual marketing plan for scholarships to students, faculty and staff;
Hold student information sessions to advertise scholarship opportunities;
Utilizing an equity mindset, design, disseminate, collect and review applications and award scholarships based on recommendations from review committees;
Recruit, train and manage a diverse pool of volunteers to review applications; provide direction to scholarship committees regarding criteria scholarships; act as the primary coordinator for the annual reviewer recognition event;
Actively participate in committees focused on ensuring students at CBC have the support they need to be successful, including but not limited to: WEC funding review, FYI, and student success leadership committee; provide Foundation support to new initiatives as they arise;
Communicate with scholarship recipients to confirm adherence to conditions of acceptance of their awards;
Coordinate with Foundation staff to honor and recognize donors and their recipients; act as primary coordinator for annual Scholarship Reception recognition event;
Assist with coordination and implementation of other Foundation programs, activities and events as requested; and
Perform related work duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university;
Two (2) years of full-time professional experience working in a student support setting, non-profit or financial aid environment;
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and
Valid U.S. driver’s license or ability to obtain one within two months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university.
Experience working in a higher education setting;
Experience working in community college fundraising setting;
Familiarity with fundraising software, preferably Raiser’s Edge or Raiser’s Edge NXT;
Experience with scholarship-specific software, preferably Award Spring; and
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment. CBC also provides one-year certificates and basic skills for those pursuing a GED or high school diploma.
