Trinity Hall seeks a full-time School Counselor for the remainder of the 2022-2023 academic year. This is an interim position, with the opportunity to continue to serve the community in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Trinity Hall serves students in Monmouth, Middlesex, and Ocean counties.
Trinity Hall emphasizes an inquiry based approach to learning in all of our academic courses, with a focus on critical thinking, problem solving and project based learning to build collaboration, communication, and critical thinking within an academic community focused on a growth mindset.
The School Counselor is a member of a two-person team that responds to individual students’ mental health needs and contributes to building a healthy, safe and productive school community that supports students’ intellectual, emotional, social, and physical wellness. Her/his responsibilities include the following:
Working collaboratively with members of the school community, especially as a key member of the school’s broader Student Services Team, to address students of concern and to share information about individual and collective student well-being.
Organizing and facilitating individual and small group counseling sessions with students as needed.
Collaborating with the College Counseling team to support students in their college application process.
Attending regularly scheduled faculty and staff meetings, grade level meetings, and student services team meetings.
Offering feedback and support in service of the school’s advisory program
Designing and implementing a variety of student, parent, and professional educational programming throughout the academic year.
Communicating appropriately with parents, teachers, and school leaders when concerns arise about the mental health of individual students and/or the community as a whole.
Making referrals to outside agencies and specialists as needed and ensuring appropriate documentation of therapeutic relationships, release forms, etc. to effectively care for students on campus.
Maintaining contact with outside specialists caring for students.
Attending professional development workshops to remain current on topics related to adolescent development.
The school counselor reports to the head of school in the daily function of her/his duties and partners with the entire school leadership team and school and college counseling teams to effectively support each Trinity Hall student.
Successful candidates should have the following experiences, skills, and competencies:
A Master’s Degree in school counseling, social work, and/or a related academic field
Previous counseling experience in a secondary school
Keen awareness of the needs of adolescent girls
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Good humor and flexibility
Willingness to work with colleagues and students in a dynamic, collaborative setting
Empathy and ability to cultivate positive relationships, particularly with young people.
Discretion and sensitivity to maintain high standards of professionalism, to include responsibility for ongoing professional development and training (supported by the head of school and individual interest) in standards of confidentiality, collaboration, mandatory reporting expectations, etc.
Time management, flexibility to respond to emergent situations, and the ability to make good judgements and quick decisions
Comfort and facility with technology (e.g., Google applications, school information systems / learning management systems, etc.)
