Job Description:
Engages external partners of the university for participation in volunteer and internship programs. Supports mutually-beneficial referrals to other teams or programs within the University.
Works closely with the Universityâ™s Federal Work-Study Office, The College Programming Office, the Institute of Politics, Career Advancement, Office of Spiritual Life, Office of Residential Life, and Center for Leadership and Involvement to provide operational leadership and support to partners and students in search of volunteer or Internship opportunities. Manage UCSCâ™s Federal Work-Study program.
Program Support & Project Management: Provides leadership and support for large-scale program events (Orientation, Service Day, Alumni Weekend, etc.), and supports the preparation of presentation decks, maps, proposals, memos, and reports.
Develops projects and systems of engagement that include long-term follow-up, impact assessment, and relationship maintenance.
Develops systems to better coordinate and facilitates requests from community or student stakeholders to OCE programs, as well as University requests to student and community stakeholders.
Maintains data and records on community engagement activities that can serve as a resource for other areas within the Office of Civic Engagement; coordinates with other engagement professionals across the office.
Supports UCSCâ™s student leadership and cohort programs (Seeds of Justice, RSOs, Summer Links, etc.) to connect students with community organizations, leaders, and communities.
Facilitates sessions with diverse audiences that encourage critical dialogue and reflection of their civic engagement and leadership development, and share best practices for University-Community partnerships.
Supports partnerships with the Collegeâ™s House System and help students engaged in the Civic Engagement House Representatives program find and navigate long-term partnerships with community groups.
Develops systems to better coordinate and facilitates requests from community or student stakeholders to OCE programs, as well as University requests to student and community stakeholders.
Advises students and staff on institutional pathways to engagement, and supports UCSC and OCE efforts to map, refine, and promote a campus-wide narrative of civic participation.
Markets student activities programming throughout the year, and develops and implements protocols for evaluating the effectiveness of programs.
Support best practices research on trends in higher education and civic engagement, and supports other benchmarking and evaluation tracking processes.
Hires, Coaches, Advises, and Mentors student staff.
Uses in-depth knowledge and experience to administer the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries such as communicating with programs sponsors and academic advising for undergraduate students.
Develops and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Masters degree.
Experience:
Experience working with organizations and communities in Chicago, and knowledgeable about the history of South Side communities.
Demonstrated experience managing administrative projects or supporting program operations.
Demonstrated experience developing partnerships with individuals and organizations.
Demonstrated experience in project planning and execution.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, and Forms).
