Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Associate Director for the Career Development Center – Newark. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Career Development Center, the Associate Director of Campus Engagement is responsible for a wide range of management, campus engagement, and coaching functions. The Associate Director position contributes to the mission and goals of the Career Development Center by providing overall leadership for all aspects of relations with internal partners and recruitment, including program development, management, career education (career exploration and career readiness), and curriculum development. The Associate Director manages professional staff and student employees, directs all curricular initiatives integrating career development, and delivers career readiness-focused advising and programs. As a member of the Career Development Center leadership team, the Associate Director of Campus Engagement will work closely with the Executive Director, to ensure that career development and coaching services remain consistent and are serving the broader mission of RU-N Career Development Center.
The duties of the Associate Director include and are not limited to the following.
Oversee all career readiness initiatives, including the development of new programs/initiatives related to incorporating career readiness into CDC programming and other campus programming, as well as training campus partners in career readiness and career development concepts.
Responsible for career development within the Career Readiness area of Career Development Center
Oversee external professional development opportunities, in-service training for staff, and online career development services.
Structures programming that connects Rutgers-Newark students to career readiness information.
Works closely with the Executive Director on technology management and marketing, including overseeing the Handshake platform deployment within the area and researching and assessing emerging career coaching technology solutions and online counseling tools and programs.
Works closely with the Executive Director on all learning outcomes and curricular development, which are critical in addressing the career preparation and career readiness of Rutgers-Newark students.
Requires a Master's degree or equivalency, with a proven track record of developing and stewarding relationships with a wide variety of constituencies, and a minimum of three (3) years of progressive professional experience in career services, college recruiting, business development, corporate relations, or academic administration within a university setting.

In addition to being familiar with all office software applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite and equivalents, database packages, calendaring applications, email services), the Associate Director should have a facility with career services software, such as internship and employer database systems (i.e., Handshake, Symplicity, etc.) and career assessment instruments (i.e., FOCUS, Myers-Briggs, etc.), as well as emerging social media and online teaching platforms.
