Position Summary The Director of Athletic Training is responsible for overseeing all phases of sports medicine for all Menlo College intercollegiate athletic programs and student-athletes, and supervision of the assistant athletic trainer(s). This is a full-time, 11-month exempt position that reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Services and the Vice President for Athletics.
Primary Responsibilities • Complete daily taping and treatments as necessary for all athletes. • Develop and communicate Sports Medicine policies and procedures manual. • Establish availability of team physician. • Establish and follow emergency procedures for care of student-athletes. • Provide daily injury status report (written or verbal) to the head coach of the team(s) involved. • Direct injured athletes to appropriate team physician, family physician, or health care facility. • Coordinate rehabilitation of injured athletes with team physician, therapist, and family physician. • Process and track all medical insurance issues. • Maintain current injury and treatment records. • Complete inventory and ordering of all necessary medical supplies. • Coordinate the pre-participation physicals for student-athletes. • Supervise assistant athletic trainers, physicians and other direct reports and provide end of year evaluation/review. • Develop and maintain staff work schedules.
Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred • Current NATA certification • CPR/AED Certified • Demonstrates effective organization and communication skills • Extensive Knowledge of Excel, Power Point, Word • Management experience of Athletic Training Staff as well as a history of teaching and developing young trainers • Demonstrating leadership skill and experience • Extensive understanding of the Menlo College Mission Statement and vision
