The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Student Recruitment (Admissions Counselor) for the undergraduate program. We seek an individual who will contribute the school's strategic undergraduate recruitment and enrollment goals.
This position will specialize in providing support and guidance in the recruitment process to prospective and current undergraduate students. Their expertise will lend itself to identifying the needs of our student populations, designing recruitment initiatives, and connecting with students and families in a meaningful way. We are looking for someone who is collaborative, detail-oriented, comfortable making independent decisions, and eager to work with both prospective students and families.
We seek an individual who is passionate about this work, creative, and data driven - strong interpersonal skills are highly valued. The selected individual is expected to use sound decision-making ability on behalf of the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment in their absence while at events on and off campus while engaging with prospective students and their families.
Located on the flagship campus of the Indiana University system, SPH-B has more than 2500 enrolled undergraduate and 380 graduate students, 200 faculty, and 95 staff across five departments (Applied Health Science, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Health & Wellness Design, and Kinesiology). We are in a period of profound growth, as we have hired more than 30 new tenure-track faculty in the last three years. Serves as a resource for students, families, guidance counselors, faculty, and other IU staff regarding SPH-B undergraduate academic programs, admission requirements, and opportunities.
Advances and implements strategies for recruiting a diverse group of students to SPH-B as a member of the recruitment team within the SPH-B Student Services Office.
Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to create opportunities for visits and other on-campus opportunities for prospective students and their families.
Meets with visitors on a planned and ad hoc basis.
Develops and manages student ambassador program to incorporate SPH-B ambassadors in recruiting initiatives that support strategic goals.
Represents SPH-B at high-profile on-campus and off-campus events, in-state and domestically, planned by other IUB offices (enrollment management units such as IU Admissions and the Office of Scholarships).
Plans and executes SPH-B programs designed to yield prospective and admitted students.
Supports IUB admissions programming, such as Campus Visits, Information Sessions, Red Carpet Days, Scholarship Receptions, Experience Days, etc.
Liaises, builds relationships, and collaborates with university admissions, scholarship and academic department partners to include the Office of Admissions, Office of Scholarships, and other recruitment scholarship programs.
Works closely with the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and marketing and communications team to assists in the creation of various marketing materials and events aimed at recruitment and ensures effectiveness of materials/events.
Determines what data is required for recruitment purposes and oversees collection and analysis of said data.
Serves as a back-up for the Director of Student Recruitment with various duties as assigned.
Works weekend and evening events as required.
Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.
Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.
May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors.
Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, student personnel, admissions, enrollment management, or related field
2 years in admissions, higher education, marketing, or related field
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. This person frequently moves boxes weighing up to 50 pounds across the campus for various needs.
In-state and domestic travel required.
