The Assistant Director is a professional position in International Student and Scholar Support which serves as the primary administrator of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program as well as provides thought leadership and management in regard to F-1 and J-1 student advising. This individual directs and manages program design, implementation and daily administrative activities of the U.S. Department of State's Exchange Visitor Program. The Assistant Director oversees advising of F-1 and J-1 visa holders in matters of immigration compliance, facilitates immigration advising and onboarding at the University, and provides to support as necessary to scholars in crisis. This individual is the primary communicator with J-1 scholars and works extensively with campus partners to promote the success of J-1 scholars. The Assistant Director also oversees immigration advising processes for students and serves in an advising capacity on an as needed basis. This position collaborates with institutional partners as needed to provide cultural immersion opportunities for J-1 students and scholars as dictated by the U.S. Department of State. The ideal candidate will display a high level of cultural sensitivity while also exhibiting attention to detail and accuracy in regard to management of a federal program.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience.
