The School of Education at The City College of New York (CCNY) seeks an Academic Advising Specialist to provide advising to undergraduate students in the division. The Academic Advising Specialist will report to the Dean and the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services of the School of Education.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
??? Work with the Dean and the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services of the School of Education with coordinating and scheduling academic advising and registration activities for undergraduate students in the division
??? Make sure students are provided with consistent, accurate, and prompt advising services
??? Collaborate with program directors and other academic divisions to maintain a comprehensive academic advisement program
??? Work with students to resolve academic issues, providing information and/or referral
??? Maintain and monitor divisional records on related matter
??? Design academic plans for students on probation in consultation with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services and program directors
??? Assist the Dean and the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services with other projects, as needed
??? Maintain databases and write reports related to the impact of advising on undergraduate enrollment, student success, and program completion
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
A Master???s degree is preferred. The preferred candidate will have a strong work ethic; excellent oral and written communication skills; and exceptional interpersonal, computer, and computational skills. Experience handling confidential matters and materials and working with a highly diverse faculty, staff, and student body in a college or university are essential.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Please note: Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office.

Administers an academic advising center or unit.
Collaborates with other academic and administrative offices to maintain a comprehensive academic advisement program
Ensures students are provided with consistent, accurate, and prompt advising services, coordinating with academic departments
Works with students to resolve academic issues, providing information and/or referral
Develops orientation programs to engage and retain students and instructs students, faculty and staff on use of advising technologies
Conducts assessments to strengthen advisement programs
Organizes and facilitates training for faculty advisors
Develops print and online communication materials
May supervise office operations and budget
Performs related duties as assigned.
