The University of Iowa College of Education's Department of Educational Policy and Leadership Studies (EPLS) seeks a dynamic individual to direct the Educational Doctorate (EdD) program. The successful candidate will have professional education experience, enthusiasm for developing current and emerging educational leaders, and demonstrate active engagement in equity, inclusivity, and anti-racist education, which are critical practices within our department and the College of Education.

The Educational Leadership EdD at the University of Iowa is a new and fast-growing program, and the successful candidate will capitalize on the current momentum to support program growth and success. The candidate will be involved in significant outreach and recruitment within the Iowa educational community and will be expected to identify new program and marketing opportunities focusing on K-12, Higher Education, and other related educational practitioners.

Job duties include:

  Serving as the Director of the Educational Leadership (EdD) program (both Educational Leadership and Higher Education strands); overseeing student recruitment and admission; student advising, coordination, and mentorship; as well as program assessment and evaluation

  
  


• 
  

  Teaching courses (including summer sessions) in face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats in Educational Leadership, Higher Education and Student Affairs, and related fields

  
  


• 
  

  Coordinating and chairing student capstone projects (Dissertations in Practice)

  
  


• 
  

  Contributing to strategic initiatives across the college and campus

  
  


• 
  

  Supporting student development in new and innovative ways in alignment with emerging and evolving trends

  
  


• 
  

  Providing leadership and service at the local, state, and national levels

About the Department

The Department of Educational Policy and Leadership Studies (EPLS) at the University of Iowa includes 18 faculty members and serves around 175 students. The department includes three programs: Education Leadership, Education Policy and Leadership Studies (Ed.D.), and Higher Education and Student Affairs. EPLS has an international reputation for advancements in the areas of evaluation and assessment, educational measurement, and effective undergraduate education, among many other research initiatives. In addition to supporting impactful research, EPLS values and uplifts the work of its faculty practitioners, leaning into the crucial intersection of scholarship and practice in instruction, program planning, and student support.

About the College

The College of Education offers more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including licensure, endorsement, and certificate programs, many of which are regularly ranked among the best in the nation.
