Reporting to the Director of New Student and Family Engagement, the Associate Director will guide the design, development, execution and program review process to ensure the effectiveness of new undergraduate student orientation programs for DePaul University.
What You'll Do:
New Student Orientation: Provide leadership, oversight, and assessment of all new undergraduate student orientation programs including Premiere DePaul and Transition DePaul online and on-campus programs. Work with the Associate Director of Academic Partnerships and other campus partners to ensure consistency and intentionality of messaging across Premiere DePaul orientation and Common Hour.
Staff Management and Supervision: The Associate Director is responsible for the supervision of one full-time exempt staff professional and oversees the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of orientation leaders, two student coordinators, and one graduate assistant.
Systems and Relationship Management: Leverage institutional technologies to enhance the orientation experience and coordinate efforts across units (SLATE, PeopleSoft, BlueStar, etc.). Foster and maintain positive working relationships with university partners including undergraduate college advising offices, the Office of Admission, and student service areas and work closely with the Next Steps to Enrollment Committee (Admission, Housing Services, DePaul Central, First-Year Programs) to coordinate communication to incoming students.
Budget: Responsibly manage budget (approximately $900,000) by maintaining appropriate records of expenses and revenue generated by the New Student Orientation fee.
Supervise one full-time exempt position, 2 student coordinators, 30 student leaders, and one graduate assistant.
What You'll Need:
Master's degree in College Student Personnel/Counseling or related field required
4 to 6 years of experience working in higher education, preferably in orientation, new student programs or student activities at a professional level
2 to 3 years of experience supervising staff members
Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and effectively work on a team
Ability to communicate effectively with others and foster professional relationships within a complex environment of diverse students, staff, and faculty
Knowledge of college student development theories
Program planning and strategic planning skills
Public speaking and group facilitation experience
Ability to work extended hours during peak program times
