New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college offering 60 associate and bachelor???s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn. The Office of Student Life & Development welcomes applications for a full-time position of Student Life & Development Coordinator at the Assistant to HEO rank.
The Student Life & Development Coordinator will plan, organize, and implement co-curricular and extracurricular activities and programs for students. The Coordinator is responsible for assisting student organizations with programming, and coordinating events at the College. The Coordinator serves to help create a positive and engaging learning environment that contributes to the overall success of the student body at City Tech.
Reporting to the Student Life & Development Manager, the Coordinator will:
Assist in the overall management of City Tech student co-curricular programming; may assume responsibility for one or more specific student programs.
Maintain accurate records of student clubs and organizations, including officers, up to date contact information, club documentation, expenditures, contracts, verification of training completion, and certifications.
Ensure that student clubs and organizations receive and complete proper trainings and certifications.
Maintain calendar of, and send communications to the College community regarding, all Student Life & Development activities and events, including those of student organizations and Student Government events.
Coordinate and help present at club orientations and informational workshops.
Assist with creating, disseminating, and maintaining club handbooks, informational publications, and recruitment materials.
Assist with the preparation and editing of student publications, posters, flyers, and literature used to promote student clubs and organizations.
Assist with the organization and coordination of special events, such as the New Student Orientation, Welcome Back Bash, Harvest Fest, and End-of-Semester Bash.
Assist with Honors Convocation and graduation ceremonies planning, organizing and recruitment of student volunteers.
Coordinate arrangements for student related travel in accordance with college policy and process.
May serve as chaperone for off-campus travel for student groups
Assist with the development of programming partnerships within CUNY and through the New York City metro area.
Coordinate community service opportunities for students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years??? experience in student services in a higher education setting, such as, advisement, student governance, or student life is highly desirable.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strength in online communication
Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties easily and work independently as well as part of a team
Effective time management and organizational skills
Familiarity with social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms
Prior experience planning and assisting with special events
Knowledge of student compliance and regulatory issues, such as FERPA and Title IX
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
