University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.
The Assistant Director of Student and Alumni Programs will craft the strategy for engaging more than 500K alumni through increased and robust programming and communications, and provide tangible benefits to the NYU student community while on campus to help drive future engagement and giving. Support the head of Alumni programs to facilitate the engagement and the fundraising agenda for this particular constituency. Manage and motivate student and alumni club leaders and volunteers to plan and execute alumni, student, and profile events across the world with a particular focus on the NYU Washington Square and Brooklyn, NY campuses. Manage alumni relations programs such as the New Student Send-Offs, Dinner with Six, and Global Days of service with student-alumni club volunteers. Manage, on average, over 100 events per year, which engage upwards of 5,000 participants. Manage the Student Alumni Council student volunteer club, work closely with the alumni relations committee of the Student Senate, and build strong working relationship with the NYU Center for Student Life.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: 5+ years alumni relations experience, related experience (e.g., non-profit management), or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Experience: 5+ years experience working with volunteers, or event management in an academic, non-profit and/or development environment or related fields
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proven ability to work in higher education setting and build relationships with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Highly organized and creative
Strong experience with alumni relations, events planning, logistics, and management
Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to quickly adapt to changing needs
Ability to professionally interact with all levels of alumni, parents, and staff
Proficiency with word processing and Excel spreadsheets
Familiarity with presentation software, and database software and desktop publishing applications
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Exposure to fundraising software, such as Advance, and communications database such as Marketo
Knowledge of student affairs strongly preferred
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,500 - $105,000.
