The Director of Experiential Marketing and Events is the primary lead for the Experiential Marketing team. The Director will build off marketing campaigns that connect the NYU community to prospective students and families globally, while bringing the NYU story to life through live, hybrid and remote experiences. As the chief architect of the visitor experience, this position plans and directs hundreds of annual on and off-campus experiences designed to promote NYU's campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai. The Director orchestrates a visit program – both in person and virtual - that draws nearly 200,000 annual visitors to NYU for information sessions, campus tours, and virtual events. The Director leads a team of full-time staff members and 150+ student employees who comprise the NYU Ambassador Program. The Director manages NYU's facilities that serve as the front door to prospective students, their families, counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni volunteers. The incumbent will support growing visitor relations and special events needs across the Office of Enrollment Management and develop and implement new customer service standards across all units, including training and advancing new mobile and interactive technologies to engage visitors.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: 7+ years progressively responsible professional experience in events management, visitor relations, campus programming, or equivalent combination of education and experience in both the physical and virtual environment. Must include previous experience in managing, leading, and mentoring staff.
Preferred Experience: Previous work in a higher education, a high profile organization, or similar setting.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills; exemplary relationship building skills with both internal and external constituents; Demonstrated understanding of the event production process, with vast experience orchestrating events of the highest caliber with a modest budget; strong command of budgets and financial management; a genuine interest working with college students, high school students, parents, alumni, faculty, and counselors; and a commitment to diversity in higher education. Deep understanding of translating brand needs into experiential activations or a visual story. Production experience, including understanding of staging, lighting, and branding.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of CRM systems, events databases and virtual event technologies; understanding of how a large, decentralized college or university functions; and events management experience on a global scale. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $78,000 - $128,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
