Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for enrollment, billing and collections, payment plans, receipt of tuition and other miscellaneous payments, processing refunds, monitoring and managing delinquent accounts and coordinating with other departments and maintaining a high level of confidentiality of student accounts. Position is responsible for accepting and recording deposits, account and bank reconciliations, and other accounting duties while providing excellent customer service to parents/guardians, students, colleagues, and third party entities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Annual student enrollment, tuition billing and collection.
Confidential and timely communication with parents/guardians regarding student accounts.
Reconciliation of student receivable subledger and deferred revenue to general ledger and registrars.
Reconciliation of enrollment and financial aid records between the Business, Registrar, and Admissions Offices.
Processing of ACH files for tuition, fees, and other payments.
Analyze and report on monthly student receivables aging, and additional reports and analysis as needed.
Accounting for parent association and liaison to parent association treasurer.
Internal invoicing and reconciliation.
Processing of returned checks and ACH transactions.
Bank statement reconciliation.
Prepare daily bank deposits and record in the accounting system.
Research bank deposit corrections and/or adjustments.
Update and maintain information in a variety of databases and spreadsheets.
Preparation of journal entries, analysis, and schedules for monthly close and annual audit.
Back up support for credit card administration and deposit log.
Administration of tuition refund insurance plan, including processing claims.
Set up and maintain filing systems, both electronic and hard copy.
Calculation and disbursement of annual parent association contributions.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, positive interpersonal and customer service skills.
Respects and maintains confidentiality of all financial information.
Experience with PC based accounting systems and spreadsheet/database applications.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to problem solve, work independently and use initiative and professional judgment.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.
2-5 years of prior accounting experience in a professional setting.
