The Division of College Health, Health Promotion Strategy unit, within the Department of Family Medicine is seeking a Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine (Clinician Educator) to handle media and communication for the USC Well-being Collective. The position will serve as a program administrator and fits within a Collective Impact framework, which requires working collaboratively with all members of the diverse campus community and academic/administrative units towards our USC Well-being Collective common agenda of strengthening a campus culture driven by student well-being. The Office for Health Promotion Strategy, which serves as the âbackbone organizationâ for the USC Well-being Collective, supports university divisions, departments, and student organizations with media and communication, data and metrics, training and facilitation, and community engagement to create a health promoting campus and advance equitable outcomes. Specifically, this position will engage in gathering qualitative data, develop and implement media efforts and activate community and partner alignment through continuous communication to support the Collective in advancing systemic change. The program administrator works with other members of the backbone unit, community members and partner units to communicate and activate wise practices in population health as a component of well-being while nurturing learning through continuous communication and effective media.
Position specific JOB SUMMARY:
As a faculty member in the Office for Health Promotion Strategy in USC Student Health, this professional will work towards enhancing communal well-being and a health promoting campus through the use of media and communication. This position will work within a dedicated, inclusive team to identify stakeholders, seek partner engagement, build partner capacity, strengthen existing relationships, and work closely with department staff to achieve measurable improvements and pursue equitable health outcomes at the population-level and within the ecosystems where students work, learn, live and play.
MARKETING and COMMUNICATION
As a faculty member in the Office for Health Promotion Strategy, you will:
⢠Facilitate targeted marketing efforts to build capacity for health as a component of well-being and campus as a health promoting setting with respect to campus policies, learning and working environments, physical spaces, services and support, student development, and/or opportunities for social connectedness.
⢠Serve as the Communications Manager to identify, plan and write news and feature stories for print and online publications.
⢠Draft and distribute communications to constituents, including, but not limited to: students, campus partners, and others as identified.
⢠Ensure consistent communication of USCâs desired image, brand and position internally, externally, and via all media channels.
⢠Contribute to leading and/or supporting continuous improvement of relevant communication platforms for campus health promoting conditions.
⢠In collaboration with the other Program Administrators, (Community Engagement, and Data/Metrics) maintain partnerships and networks of participating organizations across campus - including faculty members, instructors, departmental and program administrators, staff members, students, teaching assistants, and members of participating community organizations - to support collaborative strategies for the advancement of health, equity and sustainability as essential components of well-being.
⢠Manage projects and timelines and provide administrative and technical support necessary to maintain media tone, strategies and engagement goals and assures progression of work toward stated outcomes.
⢠Remain current on communication practices, recommend changes in marketing practices
⢠Participate in campus committees as necessary
⢠Maintain current working knowledge of the USC context (e.g. academic and institutional plans and priorities, faculties, departments, student services, USC survey data) in order to best align Health Promoting Campus Initiatives work with Steering Committee priorities, participating organizations, campus stakeholder groups, departments, and/or university policies
PLANNING AND RESEARCH
⢠Research and design campus-wide health promotion strategies, applying evidence-based theories and frameworks.
⢠Research and stay current on relevant evidence-based frameworks, settings and issues, trends in post-secondary education, and at USC specifically, best practices, government legislation, and non-government organization guidelines (e.g. World Health Organizationâs Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion (1986), Okanagan Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges (2015) and the Geneva Charter for Wellbeing (2021)).
⢠Research strategies within the health promotion actions (i.e. policy, physical spaces, community engagement, prevention, and personal skills development) to guide facilitation and training.
⢠Research and identify relevant health-related initiatives, developments and programs abroad in order to enhance activities and settings at USC.
⢠Contribute to the strategic and operational plans, and specific initiatives, for the USC Well-being Collective by providing evidence-based expertise and analysis of existing assets or contexts.
⢠Identify and advise campus partners on strategic and innovative opportunities on USC Well-being Collective initiatives and support their research, planning, and development.
⢠Develop and advance trainings for policy, programs, and environmental actions that are aligned with the Collectiveâs strategic goals and logic models, the needs of the campus community and the University mission.
EVALUATION and REPORTING
⢠Contribute to process and outcome evaluation, and provide reports to key stakeholders in support of health as a component of wellbeing.
⢠Provide reports as requested on evidence-based practices, training strategies, proposed initiatives and progress toward identified priorities.
⢠Provide recommendations to the Director, Health Promotion Strategy on new initiatives or trainings, strategic changes to current initiatives, and priorities for capacity building.
⢠In collaboration with Program Administrator, Data and Metrics, work to design and implement evaluation strategies to assess progress on evidence- based interventions.
⢠In collaboration with Program Administrator, Framework and Facilitation, disseminate data and reports to inform campus operations and programming.
⢠Participate in and represent SHS, the Division and USC in community coalitions, collaborative efforts and citywide and statewide initiatives in support of student health and well-being.
⢠Respond to requests for information, data and presentations, as well as conduct pro-active communication with stakeholders and campus partners.
 BUDGET, STAFFING AND DEVELOPMENT
⢠Oversee administration of budget, HR requirements, and hiring and management of professional, student worker and graduate intern staff.
⢠Provide training on visual learning, infographics, print and electronic communication, website design and other topics as needed.

To succeed in this role, you will need:
A Masterâs in Public Health, Public Policy, Social Work, Communication or similar field Excellent knowledge, skills and abilities to understand data and generate insights; ability to translate complex issues into actionable efforts.
