This role works under the Student Leadership and Engagement Office and with the broader PGCC community to provide a robust campus life experience for all students. The Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing retention-centered activities, executing programs and events pertaining to Student Engagement and Leadership at the Largo Campus and extension centers. The incumbent will interact responsibly with the general public by providing information and assistance to advance departmental activities and student services.
One to two years of college credit or equivalent formal training in student personnel, education, counseling, the behavioral sciences, or business management from an accredited institution, a related field.
Combination of education and related experience for a total of four to five years.
Some experience in working with a diverse population, disable students, program development and academic advising.
Two years of experience advising students with educational choices such as course selection, financial aid, and admissions requirements, organizing and presenting small group presentation to students, staff, faculty and the community.
Bachelors degree preferred.
Ability to provide excellent and friendly customer service to students, staff, faculty and the community
Able to speak fluently in Spanish and/or French to help with translations for students, parents, and the community as needed; flexibility, multi‑tasking, strong communication skills and excellent customer services ability
Ability to deal with coordinating various tasks for students, staff, faculty, and community
Strong and valuable advising disposition
Ability to be proficient in the use of computer technology to support departmental activity, e.g., PGMN, Colleague, Microsoft Office products, and GroupWise
Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills including those delineated in the Student Services Customer Service Skills standards.
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to work Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
