The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) exists to support the college’s core value of belonging and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. OMA works toward creating a welcoming/inclusive campus community for students from underrepresented backgrounds by collaborating with faculty, staff and students to develop programs and resources that will support curricular and co-curricular success. Specific attention is given to retention efforts of BIPOC students. As Director, this position is responsible for providing vision and leadership to the range of programs and initiatives aimed to support the retention and success of underrepresented students, as well as provide student support and follow-through in the aftermath of bias-related incidents. As a part of the broader Office of Diversity and Equity (ODE), this individual will collaborate deeply with other ODE staff to shape the integration of DEIB ideals on our campus community. They will also provide supervision to student staff teams, co-leadership of departmental staff meetings, or other miscellaneous ODE administrative responsibilities.
Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education or a related field
At least three years of progressive experience in DEIB-based programming within higher education
Demonstrated experience with programming aimed to support minoritized groups
Experience supporting students as they navigate emotionally challenging events
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about supporting minoritized students at a PWI
Empathy and interpersonal skills that allow for meaningful student connections
Displayed commitment to the College’s core values, especially diversity and belonging
Ability to establish collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff in support of minoritized student success
