Residence Directors work with the Residential Services team to foster an inclusive residential environment that fulfills the mission, vision, and goals of the Division of Student Affairs The responsibilities of this position include: managing a residential area housing up to 1000 students; managing and supervising 1 Assistant Residence Director and 12-18 student paraprofessionals; focusing on student development and academic success; assisting in enforcing University, city and state policies and laws; coordinating the flow of information between hall staff and central office; monitoring, assisting, helping develop and participating in Residential Experience Framework activities; and performing other duties as assigned. The required qualifications include: a bachelor's degree in higher education administration or related field (masters preferred); 1-3 years full or part time previous experience in residential life, housing, student activities or student affairs; supervision of paraprofessional staff.
(20%) Assists in the overall administrative management of a residential area including but not limited to: implementation of the residential experience framework, supporting residential colleges, managing occupancy and facilities, assisting with access control, supporting student care and wellness, facilitating conduct and community standards processes, managing opening/closing, and ensuring good stewardship of finances.
(20%) Directly supervise and facilitate the recruitment, training, development, and evaluation of 12-18 paraprofessionals.
(15%) Supervise an Assistant Residence Director
(10%) Serve as a conduct administrator and adjudicate violations of Residential Services and University policies and procedures
(10%) Develop meaningful relationships with students by providing opportunities for growth and development through ongoing training and visibility within the community.
(10%) Recruit, train, and co-advise an Area Council or work with Residential College exec boards and faculty chairs.
(5%) Serve on departmental, divisional or university committees
(5%) Participate in duty rotation, serving 2,500 – 5,000 residential students, and perform on-duty responsibilities 24/7/365
(5%) Utilize technology including but not limited to; Maxient, Persona, eRezLife, When to Work, Office 365, SharePoint, RMS Mercury, and KeyTrak
Must possess excellent interpersonal communication, organization, administration skills and experience as well as a commitment to social justice and student development
1-3 years full or part time previous experience in residential life, housing, student activities, or student affairs
Supervisory experience of paraprofessional staff in residential life, housing, student activities, or student affairs
Intermediate knowledge or work processing, spreadsheets, email, and database software programs.
Prior work experience working closely with faculty members in a residential setting
Completed master's degree in higher education or related field
