The Senior Assistant Director for Special Events reports to the Associate Director for Special Events. As a member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, this collaborative role works closely with other Assistant Directors within admissions and enrollment management.
The Sr. Assistant Director plans, leads, executes and evaluates major campus recruitment events (with 3,000-5,000 attendees per event; 10-12 events per year) for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This includes evaluating event histories, budget considerations, contractual provisions and planning committee recommendations to determine requirements as to space, facilities, technology, equipment, catering, on-site management and participants. The position is also responsible for supporting the planning and execution of virtual events as well as smaller, more specialized campus recruitment events in conjunction with the Special Events team and peer Assistant Directors serving as subject matter experts.
The Sr. Assistant Director directly supervises one full-time staff member (Assistant Director for Special Events) as well as a graduate assistant and/or 1-2 student event interns. The position is also responsible for providing written and in-person training for staff volunteers on task-specific event duties and overseeing the student volunteer training performed by the Assistant Director for Special Events.
As a member of the management team in Undergraduate Admissions, the position will participate in the strategic and tactical decisions for the office. The Sr. Assistant Director reviews applicants for admissions and is expected to travel and periodically participate in other recruiting activities, as needed which requires night and weekend work.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 5 years related experience, or bachelor's degree and 7 years related experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
